The Institute of Cosmology and Gravitation (ICG) at the University of Portsmouth was founded in 2001 after receiving a grade 5 in the UK Research Assessment Exercise (RAE). The ICG performs research into both theoretical (early universe, braneworlds, GR sources) and observational cosmology (SDSS, CMB and 2dFGRS surveys) and is support via the EPSRC, PPARC, HEFCE and the University of Portsmouth. Within the SDSS collaboration, the ICG is interested in the SDSSII SNe project, studies of the large-scale structure in the Universe, ISW measurements and galaxy properties and evolution.
