The BHM survey focuses on the study of quasars and other AGN observed with the BOSS spectrograph. To support this science, the survey supplies a number of spectra and summary files that include parameters like redshift and spectral classifications. In DR19, we supply two different types of tutorials: a set of Python Jupyter notebooks available via GitHub (for use locally or on SciServer Compute) and sample SQL queries described on the SQL Examples page that can be used on SciServer CasJobs.
Some common use cases of the BOSS pipeline spectral products are demonstrated in the Exploring Spectra Coadds tutorial. A more advanced tutorial (boss-alternative-redshifts) illustrates how to reconstruct spectral models for second best redshift solutions.
These examples can be combined with the semaphore tutorial, for those who want to associate the targeting information with the associated BOSS spectra, or the sdss_id tutorial, for cross-matching with other SDSS and external data.
Tutorials highlighting Value Added Catalogs will be added to the VAC tutorials GitHub repo as they become available. At the time of writing, tutorials for one BHM VAC are available.
More details on using these and other tutorials can be found on the main tutorial page.
