Value Added Catalogs

In addition to the primary SDSS photometry and spectroscopy, there are a few extra catalogs created by our collaborators that are distributed through the SAS. These Value-Added Catalogs (VACs) are listed below, and include catalogs that were released in earlier data releases.

Abstract

This value added catalog contains cataclysmic variables (CVs) detected in DR20 optical spectra. These CVs were found by incorporating X-ray data from eROSITA data release eRASS1 as well as eRASS:3 from their DR2(*), and optical data from Gaia DR3. Using machine learning techniques were used to find 89,337 unique candidate CVs within the eROSITA observations. Of these, 4,946 candidates were observed by SDSS with the BOSS spectrographs, resulting in this catalog consisting of 587 spectroscopically verified CVs in the DR20 dataset. This VAC is described in more detail in Brink et al. (submitted). (*) eROSITA DR2 will be available from 31 July 2026
