DR20 is the third data release for the fifth phase of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS-V). Its content is described in detail in the DR20 data release paper.
New in DR20 are:
- Optical spectra and redshifts for about half a million galaxies and quasars, observed by Black Hole Mapper, including the first eROSITA targets observed from the Southern Hemisphere.
- Optical spectra of about 1.5 million stars observed by Milky Way Mapper, including the first stars observed from the Southern Hemisphere.
- Stellar parameters, abundances and radial velocities based on DR20 Milky Way Mapper optical spectra, delivered by the Astra data analysis pipelines
- 18 Value Added Catalogs based on Milky Way Mapper and Black Hole Mapper data products, delivered by the SDSS-V science teams
- 169 tiles of six targets within and outwith the Milky Way, contributed by Local Volume Mapper as a preview for future data releases
- Brand-new user interface LVMvis, to interact with the LVM spectra and preview the RGB HiPS maps of optical nebular emission-line maps observed by LVM
- The very first SDSS Target of Opportunity spectrum
- A new set of Python Notebook Tutorials, that also run in SciServer Compute
In addition, DR20 contains:
- DR20 updates to Zora and Valis, to interact with all optical and infrared spectra and data products observed in SDSS-V or earlier generations of SDSS, in a web browser or API
- Updated target information for the Black Hole Mapper, Milky Way Mapper and Open Fibers programs
Available in DR20, but not updated from DR19:
- Infrared spectra of almost a million stars observed by Milky Way Mapper
- Stellar parameters, abundances and radial velocities based on DR19 Milky Way Mapper, delivered by the Astra data analysis pipelines
