Software Pipelines

Data Reduction Pipelines

SDSS spectra are generated by running raw data from the SDSS Observatories in the North and South through a series of data reductions, orchestrated by SDSS Pipelines. The following table lists each SDSS Data Reduction Pipeline (DRP), indicating whether it is current in SDSS-V or completed in a previous phase of SDSS:

Pipeline Survey Included in Data Releases
APOGEE DRP SDSS-V MWM Planned for DR19
APOGEE Reduction Pipeline SDSS-IV APOGEE-2 DR13 – DR17
SDSS-III APOGEE DR10 – DR12
BOSS Reduction Pipeline SDSS-V BHM DR18: eFEDS Spectra
SDSS-IV eBOSS DR13 – DR17
SDSS-III BOSS DR9 – DR12
MaNGA DRP SDSS-IV MaNGA DR13 – DR17
MARVELS Pipeline SDSS-III MARVELS DR11 – DR12
SEGUE Stellar Parameter Pipeline SDSS-I/II SEGUE/SEGUE-2 DR6 – DR7

Data Analysis Pipelines

Due to computation limits, data reduction pipelines do not include more complex analysis that requires additional computer processing, often supporting multiple configurations to provide parallel results for comparison. The following table lists each SDSS Data Analysis Pipeline (DAP), indicating whether it is current in SDSS-V or completed in a previous phase of SDSS:

Pipeline Survey Included in Data Releases
ASPCAP Pipeline SDSS-IV APOGEE-2 DR13 – DR17
Astra SDSS-V MWM Planned for DR19
BOSS Galaxy Pipeline SDSS-III BOSS DR9 – DR12
MaNGA DAP SDSS-IV MaNGA DR15 – DR17

Imaging Pipeline

The SDSS Imaging Pipeline was used in SDSS-I/II, and completed by DR8, with some corrections added to the astrometry algorithms in DR9, and to the photometric calibration definitions in DR13, and is included in all data releases through DR18.

Value-Added Catalogs

Members of the SDSS Collaboration that utilize the results of the data reduction and analysis pipelines have the opportunity to add their Value-Added Catalogs, listed here for each data release.
